Meredith had done some great work over the years. I especially like her portrait work, which is one of the best I’ve seen, as they really do show the personality of the person through them. Telling a story within them and expressing the persons in the best way possible in one shot. For my subject, I took inspiration from Meredith’s “Sleep” project. Her photographs are just what I want for my project. Portrait photography with great lighting, focus and perfect framing.

When looking at these photographs, your eyes go straight to the peoples's faces in the photo. They then travel down to their bodies and then out to the background. The lighting is very subtle, there are no harsh light anywhere and it is all set out softly with some shadows.

This is my response to Meredith Andrews’s “Sleep” project. I did my photo shoot to replicate what Meredith did, showing people who have just got out of bed. Unfortunately I could get the real this, when people have just got out of bed, so this was done in a studio at mid-day. I had to ask my model to look as if she had just gotten out of bed and was told to sit in front of a camera. To ensure she looked the part, I had to ask her to bring in her pyjamas and to not wear any make-up as I wanted her to look like she had came straight out of bed. I think I got the concept right, but the lighting is a bit colder that what Meredith did in her work, she’s got a softer tone to her work.
